Les Ensembliers completed a three-floor, 6,000-square-foot residence that unites three adjoining apartments in the Redpath Lofts. They successfully tackled the challenge of rethinking the initial dimensions and purpose of the three distinct units, resulting in a coherent new dwelling that embodies the owners' personality. The brief consisted in creating an industrial-chic interior for what is set to become a young couple's forever home, where they can build a family.
Les Ensembliers opted for two bold proposals, one vertical and one horizontal. The first focuses on the creation of an atrium that joins the three floors and brings a flow of natural light to the third level. The second is a dynamic axis in the form of a raised floor, which joins the two stairs of the fourth and the fifth levels, and the corridor that leads from the living room to the guest suite. The selection of materials was key to a successful concept: concrete floors, exposed original steel beams and structures, metal furniture elements like the impressive library bookcase in the living room and main staircases are just some of the showstopping signature pieces inside the home. Finding a balance between the hard surfaces and the soft furnishings was what make the concept complete, and bespoke furniture in lush and bold soft and plush materials makes the space feel warm and elegant.
The residence is a fusion of the space of industrial origin and the personality of the inhabitants, and the interior areas were built as a game of contrast between the gross industrial character and their taste for luxury and urban comfort.
